This twenty piece series, entitled Standing Alone explores the emotional downfalls and triumphs that one experiences when they are alone. From feeling abandoned or depressed to content or powerful, being alone can bring about both positive and negative qualities depending on the situation. This work allows the viewer to look introspectively to try and understand their own relationship with being alone, and how they feel personally about the position.

This body of work meshes digital illustration, typography, and digital photography in a way that allowed me to showcase my illustration style as well as a large collection of photos that I have taken over the past seven years. My greatest challenge in using these three techniques was combining them into a composition that looked clean and cohesive. I had to not only insure that the photographs chosen were of high quality, but I also had to determine a focal point to illustrate, and include type in a way that would enhance and not overpower the piece. Overall, each technique lends itself in a way that allows for unique artistic expression.

Each piece measures 20 in. x 16 in., with the exception of "Free", "Powerful", "Alone", and "Peaceful", which measure 16 in. x 16in.
